About Joey, My Model
We got Jo first, had to drive from Cols, Oh, up to Lewisville, OH, North East, OH. Cols, is about central. We had two Vizsla's one to the age of about 6, then cancer got her. And our first till about age of 14. They were wonderful, the best pets anyone could hope for, but not perfect examples of the breed, conformation wise. But, certainly temperament wise. We had just moved to OH, from Dallas, actually Lewisville, TX. (coincidence?) In looking for another Vizsla, a local breeder pointed us to a female available in Lewisville, she kept calling her "the green dog". We didn't know why, but had heard breeders were a little weird anyway! She had provided the male for this mating, to a "brought from Hungary", beautiful female, Kata. The male was one of her many Champions. and the pick of the litter was kept for her, while the other pups were sold off. Her spouse however would not allow her to keep the pick, because they had 18 already. The owners of Katya, could not keep the green dog either. And at that point all the pups were sold, and they were sort of left with her. So, when we were offered the opportunity to get her, my husband, daughter, and I drove up, the whole time I kept saying, "I don't want some Green Dog. You guys know me and puppies, don't let me bring home a Green Vizsla!" One of our books actually showed a V that looked sort of greenish, we thought was just a bad photo, but... When we drove in and saw her, she was gorgeous! Then we found out why she was called the green dog, she had a green collar, when V's are born they do look all the same, so they have different color collars (usually braided yard) so they can keep track of who is whom, so they know who is getting milk, etc...

As we socialized Joey, going to various dog places, including puppy obedience training, when we checked in, the trainers remarked on how beautiful she is, and asked where we got her, when we said, Lewisville, OH, up by Canton, they remarked, " Oh, You GOT THE GREEN DOG!!!" Apparently the word had spread through the community about the pic being something quite special. I can't tell you the number of places that we've been stopped, and heard the same comment! But, with my MS, we knew I could not handle puppies, so she was never bred. We finally had her spayed. Unfortunately, we heard about a month after that, the kennels where we got her had burned to the ground, killing all of their dogs. I was heartsick. But, later I spoke with the owner, and he said that the only reason they can even talk about it now, was because Kata was the only dog that did not burn to death, she had gone to the basement, trying to escape the fire, and they found her curled up behind a chair, in a corner, having died from asphyxiation. I immediately went out and bought an alert sticker for every door to my home that tells firemen..."please rescue my dogs, I have 3"... I also have purchased them for my daughters and friends. I cannot imagine anything more horrible than to come home and find your family dead.

Joey is a name the breeders had wanted to name her, if they had kept her. I thought it was cute. Their Kennel name was Kiko, so her full name is Kiko's Jo-Jo Shadow Dancer. And she is the only dog we've seen who chases shadows! It is quite funny! She also loves to hunt, and loves to watch TV, animal planet is her favorite channel. No kidding.
